Singer-songwriter, Bori, has just dropped his debut track, Players Ballad.
The fresh and emerging artist brings melodic R&B styles in line with his afro-beat origins.
The unique but catchy new track tells us about a man who can’t help but admire other women, despite being in a relationship.
The dramatic story line is mixed with a range of instrumentals and an upbeat tune which inevitably captivates us.
The 19-year-old admits he grew up listening to reggae music and is inspired by artists such as Bob Marley.
Another idol of Bori’s is J. Cole due to the way he literally paints a picture through spoken words.
The Nigerian-born artist – who grew up in Sweden – has worked with German DJ, Felix Jaehn, on his national hit, Jennie.
Since recognition, Bori’s talent is progressing rapidly and he said:
“All I want to do is have people enjoy and feel something when they hear my music.”
In an exclusive interview with CelebMix, Bori chats to us about his latest single, working with DJ Felix Jaehn, and his plans for 2019.
What was it like writing your debut single?
It was really exciting, I had a lot of fun writing this song because the whole song is a dramatic story with a sprinkle of good vibes on the instruments.
Tell us about Players Ballad.
Players Ballad is about a guy who played his cards wrong, made all the wrong choices and got into a whole lot of trouble. It’s a song about drama and chaos with a danceable beat added to the mix.
What was it like to work with DJ Felix Jaehn?
It was a really nice experience. He’s a really cool dude, an awesome musician and I had a really good time working with him.
Who do you dream of working with?
Well, there’s a long list of people that I would love to work with but if I was to wish I’m going for Tory Lanez, The way he lays his melodies are insane.
Is this single part of an album?
Yeah actually, it’s part of an album in progress.
What are your ultimate goals for 2019?
I wanna release as much music as possible and I would like to tour, perform at festivals and make a lot memories with the people who listen to my music.
